Whether you’ve enjoyed doing hair and makeup your whole life, or you have a newfound interest in the beauty industry- you may be thinking about going to cosmetology school. With any big life decisions, there are always questions and doubts so we are here to debunk a few myths about the beauty industry as well as show you all the different ways that a career in cosmetology can help you live your best life!

COST & TIME 

Texas has recently changed the hour requirements to 1,000 hours so that means you could potentially graduate in only 8 months and be on your way to a career in cosmetology. Tuition is around $15,000 but there are many Scholarship and Financial Aid (for those who qualify) opportunities so that you can make this happen! We constantly encourage our students to apply for these opportunities and many students receive them. There is also financial help for those that have Military in the family through the GI Bill and MyCAA.

CAREER PATHS 

With a Cosmetology License you are equipped to do hair, skin, and nails professionally. That means there are so many pathways you can take. From being a stylist in a small town, platform artist, educator, to doing hair and makeup for movies or even on cruise ships – the possibilities are endless. We help you dream big and recognize your potential to be the best cosmetologist you can be!

HOW MUCH YOU CAN MAKE

 How much you make in this profession is dependent on you. Some of the top stylists make 6 figures easily. If you google search the average salary it will show you a number well below the actually income of stylists in our area. It’s all about your dedication to the craft and how much you want to be in the top 20%.

We are a Summit School, which means we have opportunities for students to Level Jump when they complete above and beyond the expected. The Summit system is a goal based system which teaches stylists how to build a clientele. You can find this Summit program implemented in some of the best salons around. You will learn how to be a business person along with how to market yourself in this competitive industry. Our goal is to give our students all the tools they can use to become the best cosmetologist they can be.

OTHER PERKS

Of course there are perks to being in the cosmetology profession. Our local salon community knows us well and hires our students based on the high standard of teaching we implement. This is a huge perk to have especially when you want to jump in right away after graduating. Most of our students know what salon they are going to start at before they even graduate! Another perk is being able to have financial independence and sometimes complete control of your schedule. Senior stylists that have cultivated a steady client base are able to work the days and hours they want and take off the days they don’t. This is a dream for those that can’t do the 9-5 lifestyle.
